Next to the park, we’ll visit St. Joseph’s Oratory, one of the world’s most visited shrines. The basilica’s huge dome at 97 meters high, is second only in height to Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome. After Montmorency Falls, we’ll visit the Basilica of St. Anne de Beaupre located in the tiny village of St. Anne de Beaupre, 20 miles north of Quebec City. Though dating from 1926, the present basilica contains a number of 18th century sculptures and artworks, 240 stained glass windows, mosaics and the miraculous statue of St. Anne, carved from a massive single piece of oak. The basilica is the centerpiece of a large shrine complex that includes several chapels, a holy well, a life-size set of the Stations of the Cross and a replica of the Holy Stairs in Rome.
