About Us

Travelcenter, Inc. was founded and incorporated in April 1974. It operates (DBA) Boscov's Travel for Leisure, Group, Convention, Meetings and Incentive Travel, and Boscov's Business Travel, for the corporate travel needs of many corporations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and New York State. The corporation is owned by Albert and Eunice Boscov and Edwin and Alma Lakin. Our financial stability and commitment to the communities in which we reside make us a good choice for all your travel needs.

Briefly, our 26 location travel company is structured in 3 parts: leisure travel, group, convention, meetings and incentive travel and business travel. Our leisure side has achieved notable success as a dominant vacation provider sustaining "back to back" weeks of charter aircraft departures to Orlando yearly, major group movements to the Caribbean; cruises; Hawaii; South Pacific, Europe and hundreds of chartered motorcoach trips throughout the U.S.

Our private group and incentive side boasts the success of over 300 escorted departures and/or meetings annually. Destinations range from nearby domestic travel to European Holidays. We have successfully handled conventions and board meetings for national associations using various air cities throughout the country for large and small groups alike.

PROGRAM COORDINATION Our staff of Sales Assistants are trained professionals in dealing with the coordination of your program. All program details from room allotments, airport greetings, transportation, special handling of VIPS, meetings and banquets, final billings, etc., as well as on site details will be followed through by the coordinator assigned exclusively to your program. You have one contact to assure an open line of communication to ensure that all arrangements are properly executed.

• SPACE BREAKING – Because of Boscov's Travelcenter’s size and industry profile, we can very often obtain space that is unavailable to the individual traveler or to smaller travel companies. Specifically, we can:
  • Confirm seats on booked flights. Boscov's Travelcenter is able to clear most waitlists it places. Most other agencies simply cannot do this.
  • Confirm discount fares when they show sold out. Today, many more seats are capacity controlled. When space is sold out, Boscov's Travelcenter will obtain permission from the desired carriers to clear the space.
• AUTOMATED FARE CHECKING – With our internal automated Quality Assurance software and our regular use of Sabre system’s excellent fare search and fare search programs, all records are queued to the following processes:
  * 17 fully automated fare checks.
  * 6 fully automated quality preference checks.
  * 14 automated quality service and process checks.
  * 13 action oriented customer report item checks.

• SUPPLIER NEGOTIATIONS - As a principal user of key travel industry suppliers, we have ongoing relationships with airlines, hotels, auto rental companies, and an array of other providers. We will bring our preferred relationships to bear on behalf of our accounts. We will enter into negotiations wherever our already beneficial rate structures don't take into account exceptional additional business volume on behalf of our accounts... and those negotiations will commence as soon as we commence with the account.
• STRONG SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS - Because of the volume of business that we do each year with the airline and hotel industries, we are uniquely situated to obtain preferential treatment for our travelers. We are often able to obtain a seat on a flight that appears to be totally booked, arrange for priority waitlisting, or arrange for a room in a hotel where others are told there is no space.
